London, 28 October 2025 - Ignite Specialty Risk, a leading provider of litigation risk insurance, is expanding its Executive Team and UK Underwriting function with four pivotal appointments, reinforcing its commitment to international growth, product innovation, and exceptional service across the UK, Europe and US markets.
Investing in UK product development with hire of two Technical Underwriters
As Ignite continues to invest in UK products, it has made two expert appointments in the technical underwriting team.
Admitted as a solicitor in 2016, Angus Eames joins Ignite from ClientEarth, where he has spent the last three years as Counsel in Disputes. Prior to this, Angus spent five years as an Associate at DLA Piper in the Litigation and Arbitration team.
Matt Evans has also been promoted to Technical Underwriter, underscoring Ignite’s belief in cultivating talent and providing opportunities for professional progression from within. Matt, a solicitor with 15 years of Post Qualification Experience (PQE), is recognised by Legal 500 as an outstanding litigator, having previously practised at both RPC and Latham and Watkins.
Matt and Angus will work closely together to support Ignite’s commitment to delivering underwriting excellence, innovative solutions and high standards of customer service to its expanding client base.
Ben Lim appointed as Portfolio Manager
Ben brings over fifteen years of PQE as a solicitor and joins Ignite from his role as a Placing Broker at Marsh, where he sourced litigation risk solutions and advised clients on managing litigation and arbitration risk. He developed significant expertise in financial claims and costs disputes in former roles, which include six years as a qualified solicitor at Lyons Davidson.
Ben’s technical acumen will be invaluable as Ignite continues to expand its portfolio.
Jamie Molloy, Head of ATE at Ignite Specialty Risk, said: “These appointments are clear indicators of the momentum that enables us to continue to invest in our people and our long-term vision. By expanding our team across the board with experienced professionals in management and underwriting roles, as well as leveraging our current achievements, we can advance our UK and EU strategy and provide enhanced value to our brokers and offer best-in-class advice to insureds.”
Driving strategic growth on an international scale
Tim Woodgett has been appointed Chief of Staff, to directly support the C-Suite in delivering Ignite’s long-term objectives. He will provide strategic planning and delivery oversight across all offices, playing a pivotal role in driving international growth, supporting development across the UK, Europe and US, as well as maintaining Ignite’s industry-leading level of service to the market.
Tim brings nearly two decades of expertise in spearheading strategic transformation in the insurance sector. His career includes senior roles at Liberty Mutual, MS Amlin, and Hiscox.
Byron Sumner, CEO of Ignite Specialty Risk, said: “Tim’s proven track record in driving business evolution and growth within the insurance industry will be invaluable as we pursue our global ambitions. His expertise and leadership will provide the backbone to our operations and support the continued delivery of first-rate service to the market.”
Ignite has supported over $2bn in litigation capital across its international portfolio since its launch in 2022 and is now one of the go-to markets for litigation insurance in the UK, Europe and the US. More recently, Ignite was recognised by leading legal research company, Chambers and Partners, for its success in both the UK and US, as well as acknowledging the individual achievements of three team members.
